Jim Zurak – with a little help from his friends – has turned “Starry Nights” into “Starry Rocks.”

Johnny Wild and the Delights will be a part of the show designed to raise money for local scholarships. The Orlando-based rock band plays ’50s and ’60s music and has turned into one of the hottest bands in The Villages.
Petrina, a favorite among residents in Florida’s Friendliest Hometown, will perform in the Dollars for Scholars annual benefit show.

That’s the new moniker of the longtime Villages Dollars For Scholars annual benefit. It will be held Nov. 2 at 7 p.m. at Savannah Center. Tickets go on sale Sept. 13 at all Villages Box Office locations.

This year, it’s time to rock with three high-powered acts: Johnny Wild and the Delights, Petrina and the country band Hayfire.

Zurak organized the fundraiser to help needy high school students with scholarships nearly a decade ago, along with Carol Lutgen of Dollars for Scholars.
During that time, more than $400,000 has been raised for students.

The Hayfire country band will play at Starry Rocks benefit Nov 2 in Savannah Center.

“We been able to lend a helping hand to these students because of the generosity of people in The Villages,” Zurak has said. “We thank you and we’re going to entertain you.”
