Kristin Leigh Martinez

A Summerfield woman who got into a violent altercation over a dirty diaper in July was arrested on an outstanding warrant Tuesday.

Kristin Leigh Martinez, 29, was taken into custody and booked into the Marion County Jail on a charge of domestic battery. She is being held without bond and is to appear in court on Oct. 2 at 8 a.m. to answer to the charge.

Martinez’s arrest stems from an incident July 30 when she was temporarily living with a woman and her boyfriend in Ocklawaha. The woman claimed that she and Martinez got into an argument about a dirty diaper that soon erupted into a physical altercation, a Marion County Sheriff’s Office report states.

The woman told deputies that Martinez “struck her multiple times in her facial area.” She said her boyfriend attempted to stop the fight and eventually she got away from Martinez.

The woman said she then got a phone and attempted to call her father but Martinez knocked it out of her hand. She said she then picked up another phone and called law enforcement for help, the report says, adding that Martinez left the house before deputies arrived.

Deputies also noted that the woman had a small cut on the bridge of her nose, as well as scratch marks on her chest, the report says.

The warrant for Martinez’s arrested was issued Aug. 23. It states that Martinez, who gave an address of 10804 SE 166th Lane in Summerfield, would be held with no bond, with modifications possible during her first court appearance.
