Week 2 of the Central Florida Fall season was a mixed bag of good defensive games and strong offensive games.
Arden Jewelers scored in every inning to defeat Babiarz Law 15-11.
The Jewelers got four hits each from Maury Fjestad and Bill Sass. Terry Baughman had three hits and drove in 3 runs. Paul Isenberg drove in three runs with a pair of singles and sub, Mike Raines, also drove in a pair with a triple and a single. Babiarz got three hits and two rbi’s each from the Murgittroyd brothers, Randy & Rick. Bob Winder drove in two runs with a triple in the sixth and scored on a single by Tom Aldridge. Pitcher, Duane Miller helped his cause with a pair of singles and two runs driven in.
IHOP had to come back in the bottom of the seventh to beat the Gators 11 – 10 to erase the tie created when Gators Brownwood scored 3 runs in the top of the inning.
With two outs IHOP had a runner on first, after a single by Jim Lambert Gators intentionally walked IHOP’s clean up hitter, Cal Driskill. The next batter, Tom McGann, drove in the winning run with a single. Chick Cicatell, Lambert and McGann all had three hits in the win. Driskill had two hits and drove in two runs and Paul Justice and Rich Bergman also had a pair of hits. Gators got three hits from Jim Rogers and a pair each by Frank Murth, Charlie Clare, Ken Atkinson, Ken Ruffo, Mark Isom, and Bob Jacques.
Team Koller limited Humana to just 10 hits as they won 13-2.
Jim Christopher was the only Humana batter to get more than one hit. Kevin Moore drove in a run in the thrid with a double, and, John Van Arnhem drove in the other run in the fifth also with a double. Team Koller was led by John Leone’s four hits. Chipping in three hits each were: Marty Berger and Jim Gipper. Sub, John Ambrose was just a triple shy of the cycle as he had a double, lead off homer in the sixth, and a single in the seventh.
Fross & Fross got their bats going in the late innings and overcame Paul Davis Restorations 8-5 in a defensive battle.
Mike Labettin and John Wyks stroked three hits each to lead Fross. Pat Perkins drove in three runs with two hits. Adding a pair of hits each were: Tim Carroll, Bill Nisbet, and, Paul Robinson. Paul Davis scored three runs in the second and two in the fourth. Bob Kelly, Ed Haith, Vic Nucatola, and Mark Beasely each stroked two hits.
The last game of the day saw Synergy Wealth survive a seventh inning scare to best Palm Ridge Dental 6-5.
Palm Ridge scored in the first as Don Winstead and Ed Niles singled. Conrad Strassle drove in Winstead with a single. George Loew drove in their second run in the fourth with a single to plate Ed Niles. Down 6-2 in the bottom of the seventh Chuck Bowmand and Roy Warter led off with singles and after the next two batters flew out Bowman scored on a single by Stan Kozlowski. Warter and Kozlowski scored as Bruce Harlan stroked a double. Ken Scanlon flew out to end the game. Synergy got three hits from Jim Creed and Dan Tharp. Adding a pair of hits were: John Kushner, Dale Neff, Rick Fredieu, and manager, Vernon Brooks.
