Man arrested after theft of watch, shorts at Belk at La Plaza Grande

A man who allegedly attempted to steal an iTouch watch and a pair of Zelos shorts was arrested Thursday morning at Belk at La Plaza Grande in The Villages.

Klayton Tyler McCall, 26, of Umatilla, entered the store at about 9:30 a.m., selected the merchandise and went into a dressing room, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. He removed the packing and pricetags and put the shorts on under another pair he was wearing. McCall left the store without paying for the items, was stopped by police and threw the watch on the ground. The items had a total value of $129.

He was arrested on a charge of retail theft. McCall has two prior theft convictions in Lake County.

He was booked at the Lake County Jail on $2,000 bond.
