To the Editor:

Someone once said “Everything in the world is about sex, except sex. Sex is about power.” That somebody apparently was politically astute enough in recognizing its’ vast political power, incorporated it and labeled it the #MeTooMovement. The du jour cause at the moment has shown itself to be an effective weapon of destruction. The #MeTooMovement misguided focus is to suggest an epidemic in that all institutions are heavily infested with sexual harassers and abusers, except the select few, who they deem free of the presumption of guilt.
My comments are not about the guilt or innocence of Brett Kavanaugh or to deny the reality that sexual abuse and abusers exist. Rather I point to the prevailing premise supported by some on the left, that belief is sufficient and nothing else really matters.  How this nation has become so entwined in identity politics and its negative effect on our nation is in great need of a serious and sustained national debate.

Norman Rockwell’s “Young Man’s Fancy.”

My senses, like many, filled with the stench of Ford-Kavanaugh hearings, momentarily found an escape when I happened upon some Norman Rockwell prints. Two of those prints instantly grabbed my attention. The first, entitled “Young Man’s Fancy” depicts three 12-14-year old’s, two boys with a young lady standing between them. The boy to the left with a book strap in hand was pleased to be carrying the young lady’s school books. The boy to the right holding flowers for her, both with an intent look of vying for her attention. The young lady standing between them had a predictable look bordering amusement and puzzlement, “which one to choose”? The second print entitled “Beguiling Buttercup” depicts another 12-14-year old lady, chin extended, and in front of her a boy of equal age holding a buttercup and employing its reflective magic as he places it under her chin. We have ventured far from such innocence as depicted by Norman Rockwell’s America.
Indeed, societal changes are a sometimes welcome reality and  not all good or bad in and of themselves. What is of consequence is the manner of interpretation, application or manipulation.
Martin Luther King carried his message of race equality appealing to the better side of mankind. His manner of protest is a far cry from that of a Maxine Waters, Kathy Griffin or Madonna who all sow the seeds of hate.
Beginning in the mid 1960’s turmoil the left discovered a way in which they could maintain dominant political control and hence power by casting themselves as the party of the newly formed protected classes. The economic aspect of this undertaking with various government sponsored programs has been astronomical and yet ineffective in so many ways.  And of course, you cannot dominate without authority and the left’s authority was identifying themselves as having the higher moral ground.
Thus, the left’s role would be protector for every social issue facing this nation, sexism, racism, homophobia, xenophobia a cause building by their followers whom eventually became consumed in hate against fictitious straw men.  It is termed identity politics and it is destroying the very fabric of this nation. As examples, there have not been this many people chased out of restaurants by the Democratic left since before the days of civil rights. The characterization by Hollywood and carried to the football field that alleges serial racism by law enforcement officers is accomplished by hatred. The Black Lives Matter movement displays its hatred for America, and mistakenly calls it racial pride. Even the governor of New York plays to their tune when he lamented “America was never that great.”
Make no mistake irrespective of the guilt or innocence of this Supreme Court nominee the driving force utilizing the #MeTooMovement as a weapon is to maintain control and hence power. Brett Kavanaugh per se is not the target the target is control of the Supreme Court because the left needs a majority on the Supreme Court as a conduit to continue to pass legislation that is unconstitutional and would never be enacted by Congress.  The irony in all of this is that if those on the left who make a mockery of this confirmation process were to be judged by their adolescent behavior as [t]he qualifying factor to be nominated as party candidates, then many of those on the left who sit on the Judiciary Committee would have been absent at those hearings.
