To the Editor:

I have heard all the horror stories about the Villages Regional Hospital and was fearful about having my hip replacement done there; however, I had no choice since my orthopedic surgeon practiced there.
Never before have I experienced the superb level of care that I was given at the Joint Clinic of The Villages Regional Hospital. From the time I stepped foot into the facility until I was discharged two days later, I can not say one disparaging thing (except maybe that the food wasn’t great).
The entire staff, from housekeeping to physicians were all professional, caring, and pleasant.  I was fully informed prior to the surgery of what was going to take place before, during and after my stay and everything ran like clockwork. There were no surprises.
The place was clean. Everyone who came into my room used hand sanitizer before entering and upon leaving the room. Anyone who had anything to do with my care put on gloves. Bottom line, I went in healthy and came out healthy – with a new hip!
The facility may have issues with its Emergency Department, but as far as treatment on the Joint Care Wing, I say “do not hesitate – you’ll have a great experience!”
