
Laurel I. Slade (Holmes), 96 of The Villages, Florida, passed away on Monday, November 12, 2018. She was born in Midland, Michigan to the late Farnum and Mary Jane Holmes.
During her youth was a member of the Nazarene Church of Midland. In 1945 she married Jack MacDougall and they moved into a log cabin they built together on Cass Elizabeth Lake. Jack passed away in January of 1948 and their son John MacDougall was born in April of that year. Laurel later remarried Archie Slade and they resided in Michigan. Archie passed away in 1987.
In 2004 Laurel moved to sunny Florida with her daughter Cheryl. Laurel enjoyed cooking, gardening, reading and most of all being with family.
Survivors include daughters Cheryl Slade, Linda Horn (Mark) and Debi Slade-Davis; grandchildren Demian, Kenesha, Shelly, Max, Dana and Austin; great granddaughter Ruby; several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her first husband Jack MacDougall; second husband Archie Slade; son John MacDougall Slade; parents and her siblings.
She will be privately buried in Midland Cemetery, Michigan. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
