Three well-known Villagers will be wielding the gavel as chairmen in their respective community development districts.
John Calandro was chosen Friday to serve as chairman in Community Development District 6. Calandro was not at the meeting, as he was busy with a ballot recount as a member of the canvassing board. He succeeds Sally Moss, who did not run for re-election in CDD 6, as she was a successful candidate for the Sumter County School Board. In addition to serving as a CDD 6 supervisor, Calandro is very active in Republican politics.

Supervisor Gary Kadow was elected chairman in Community Development District 5. He succeeds Walter Martin, who was elected vice chairman. Kadow has long been active in many organizations, perhaps most notably Project SOS and Villages Honor Flight.
In Community Development District 8, Supervisor Duane Johnson was elected chairman, and will succeed Phil Walker.
Johnson has served as a board member with The VHA.
