88-year-old Villager dies from injuries suffered in golf cart accident

An 88-year-old Villager died Tuesday at Ocala Regional Medical Center from injuries suffered a day earlier in a golf cart accident.

Frederick Lee Kaiser had been driving a 2000 Yamaha golf car at 12:26 p.m. Monday traveling south in the golf cart lane on Cazaras Avenue south of El Camino Real in the Village of Santo Domingo when he pulled into the path of a 2004 Chevy pickup driven by 47-year-old Scottie Hunsicker of Umatilla, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol. The truck had also been southbound. Kaiser had tried to cross Cazaras Avenue at a trail crossing.

Hunsicker and a passenger, 17-year-old Grant Cullen also of Umatilla, escaped injury in the crash.

The report noted that Kaiser had not been wearing a seatbelt.
