An Oxford man was arrested after a K-9 alerted on his pickup truck at Burger King on State Road 44 in Wildwood.
Gerald Wayne Mills Jr., 52, had been driving a brown 2015 Ford F-150 pickup at 7:38 p.m. Nov. 16 when a Sumter County sheriff’s deputy noticed that one of the truck’s taillights was not working. A K-9 alerted on the truck, indicating the likely presence of narcotics.
During a patdown, a socket containing burnt residue and a leafy substance determined to be marijuana was discovered in the pocket of Mills’ jeans, according to the arrest report.
Mills was arrested on a charge of possession of drug equipment. He was issued a written warning for the faulty taillight.
He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center and released after posting $1,000 bond.
