Brandie Boatright

A speeding driver who had been sipping Redd’s Apple Ale went on a rant at a deputy after a traffic stop in The Villages.

Brandie Boatright, 30, of Summerfield, was caught on radar traveling 67 miles per hour in a 45 mph zone at 9:45 p.m. Sunday on U.S. Hwy. 27/441, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. She was pulled over at U.S. Hwy. 27/441 at Morse Boulevard.

As the deputy approached Boatwright’s white Honda Accord, the scent of marijuana was detected.

The deputy spotted a pink 32-ounce Yeti cup containing a red liquid with ice. He also found an open Redd’s Apple Ale bottle on the floorboard. A sealed bottle was found in the center console.

There were “flakes” of marijuana in the car and a marijuana grinder was found in the glove compartment.

When the deputy handcuffed Boatright, she became irate.

(She) began to direct profanity and derogatory racial remarks towards me. In her rant the defendant insulted the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office, my culture, sexual orientation and ethnicity,” the deputy wrote in the report.

A criminal history check revealed Boatright had previous arrests for possession of a controlled substance, but no convictions, the arrest report said.

Boatright was arrested on charges of marijuana possession and possession of drug equipment. She was cited for speeding and open container.

She was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center and released after posting $2,000 bond.
