Detectives investigating Saturday night shooting that claimed man’s life in Sumter County

Joshua Myers

A Saturday night shooting claimed the life of a Sumter County man.

Sumter County sheriff’s deputies were called at 9:30 p.m. to a home at 7384 County Road 647 in the Nobleton area of Bushnell, where they found 37-year-old Joshua Myers had suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Myers was transported to Bayonet Point Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Michael Donzero

The residents of the home where the shooting occurred are cooperating with detectives as they investigate. They told detectives that Myers forced his way into the home after a drug dispute had originated earlier in the day.

Michael Donzero, 39, of Nobleton has been identified as the shooter.

Detectives will be coordinating with the State Attorney’s Office as they investigate to see if this shooting falls under Florida’s Stand Your Ground Law, according to the sheriff’s office.

If you have any information about this case, the sheriff’s office urges you to call Detective John Knight or if you wish to remain anonymous you can call Crimeline at (800) 423-TIPS.
