A Villager had been drinking at the town square prior to her golf cart overturning near the golf cart bridge at U.S. Hwy. 27/441.

Diane Marie Mooney, 58, said she and a passenger in the golf cart “were out having fun” prior to the crash, which occurred Friday night, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department.

Mooney had arrived at about 4 p.m. at Spanish Springs Town Square, where she “had some White Russians to drink” before proceeding to World of Beer, where “she then had approximately three beers,” the arrest report said.

The passenger, who had been pinned under the golf cart, suffered a possible broken wrist, collar bone and fractured ribs.

Mooney failed field sobriety exercises and provided breath samples that registered .163 and .159 blood alcohol content. She was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence with serious bodily injury. She was booked at the Lake County Jail and released after posting $20,000 bond.
