Sue Anne Fahy

A Villager was jailed after cutting off a deputy in a roundabout following a day of drinking at Lake Sumter Landing.

Sue Anne Fahy, 66, who lives on Indale Place in the Village of Hemingway, began drinking “bottomless mimosas” shortly after 2 p.m. Sunday at Lighthouse Point Bar & Grille, according to an arrest report. By 8 p.m., Fahy had moved to City Fire where she switched to Absolut vodka, closing out her tab at 9:20 p.m., according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

Fahy climbed behind the wheel of a black Nissan Rogue and while driving in the roundabout at Morse Boulevard and Stillwater Trail she made an improper lane change from the right lane into the left lane, cutting off a deputy’s patrol car. Fahy’s made a second improper lane change and struck the curb as she left the roundabout.

During a traffic stop, Fahy denied she had been drinking, but indicated she had come from Lake Sumter Landing. During field sobriety exercises, Fahy became “irritated” and said, “I wouldn’t even be able to do this normally.” She provided breath samples that registered .127 and .119 blood alcohol content.

During an inventory of her vehicle, the deputy discovered the receipts for drinks at the Lighthouse and City Fire.

She was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence and issued a written warning for failure to maintain a single lane. She was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center and released after posting $1,000 bond.
