One person airlifted from scene of three-vehicle crash on Rolling Acres Road

One person was airlifted from the scene of a three-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon on Rolling Acres Road.

The crash occurred at about 1:30 p.m. and forced traffic to be detoured from the scene of the accident, about a half mile south of the intersection of Rolling Acres Road and County Road 466. The Florida Highway Patrol has been called in to investigate.

Emergency personnel were on the scene of the accident on Rolling Acres Road.

An older male driver of  a car lost control and swerved head-on into the opposite lane and struck a trailer being hauled by a truck, according to a spokesperson with FHP. His vehicle then overturned and struck a third car. The driver that caused the crash was flown to Ocala Regional Medical Center as a trauma alert.

The Lake County Sheriff’s and Lake County Fire Rescue were also on the scene.

Rolling Acres Road has been declared a “failing road” due to its deteriorating condition and the heavy amount of traffic on it.
