Donna Leipper

Donna Leipper

Our beloved Donna Leipper of The Villages, FL left this world peacefully on February 12, 2019 from pneumonia complications. She will be dearly missed by her family and so many Villages friends.

Donna is survived by her loving husband Alex Weaver, daughter Tammy Bunn, her husband Randy, and three grandchildren, FN Robertjon USCG, Riley; and Russell of Sterling AK;, as well as two sister in San Diego, CA.  She is preceded in death by Tammy’s father, John Leipper of San Diego, CA; and her parents, Donald and Patricia Shadburn of Palm Springs, CA.

Donna was born on March 31, 1946 in San Diego, CA. She and John were high school sweethearts and were immediately drawn to each other when they found they shared the same birth date. After completing school, they owned and operated two jewelry stores in San Diego.

When John died from lung cancer, Donna looked for a fresh start in South Florida where she became a successful Travel Agent and continued to peruse that profession until her passing .. She left South FL in 2005 and moved to Alaska to help her daughter with the grandkids for a few years, then she heard about a wonderful retirement place in Florida called The Villages, so in 2011 she picked out a home online and ordered it sight unseen, and has been there since that day.

She was involved in several Villages social groups and a board member on Sumter Singles and Single Baby Boomers, which is where she met Alex Weaver in 2015. After a whirlwind romance they were wed in 2017 on Valentine’s day surrounded by many of their Villages friends.

Donna was also a world traveler and was lucky enough to have been on over 100 cruises in her lifetime. She and Alex also traveled including a big adventure driving from Florida to Alaska and California in 2016. Just 5 weeks and 15,000 miles later they found their way back home to The Villages.

She will always be in our hearts. A Celebration Of Life is being planned. In  lieu of Flowers, please make a donation in her name to Ronald McDonald House.
