To the Editor:
It is with a heavy heart to report that the Perseverance Brass Band will NOT be part of any Villages holiday festivities.
The Villages Entertainment Department and Dutch Uithoven, the leader of the Perseverance Brass Band, could not resolve differences regarding payment for the band for Fat Tuesday March 5 and St Patrick’s Day March 17.
Therefore, The Villages canceled the band for those dates and any future dates. The Daily Sun monthly calendar shows the band on the schedule. It is incorrect. I am a Villages resident and have been the tuba player in the band since 2008. Dutch informed me via email a few days ago that the dates are canceled and why. Simply put – they could not agree on money.
