The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in the theft of a large speed alert sign.
The sheriff’s office claims that the sign, like the one pictured above, was stolen on Feb. 19. It was attached to the 45 mph speed limit sign located about a quarter of a mile west of County Road 326 on W C-48, east of the Wahoo Historical Site. The sign was secured to the speed limit sign and the thieves who took it had to damage the hardware to remove the sign, a sheriff’s office report says.
Anyone with information about the stolen sign is being asked to contact Detective Donald Fender at (352) 793-2621 or Crimeline at 1-800-423-TIPS (8477) and reference 0917.
