The Villages Parrot Head Club will hold its annual Poker Run on Saturday, March 23 and the public is invited to join the party for this once-a-year event.

Those interested in participating should show up at Havana, Palmer Legends or Mallory Hill country clubs, or the SeaBreeze Recreation Center. Participants can then purchase a score card for $5, pick a playing card and then proceed to the other locations to pick up playing cards. Everyone will end up at the Laurel Manor Recreation Center for the final playing card and the Parrot Head party.

The best poker hand wins the prize. The club also will be selling chances to win more than 100 baskets filled with donated items, gift certificates, art and adult beverages. Live music will be provided by Hollywood and the Tropix.

The poker run is a BYOB event and everyone should bring their own snacks and chairs. The parking lot at Laurel Manor opens at 1 pm. The poker run is the largest fundraiser the Parrot Head Club holds and the money raised will be donated to non-profit charities in Sumter, Lake and Marion counties that focus on feeding the hungry and helping the homeless.

The Parrot Head’s motto is to “Party With A Purpose” – and those who have participated in the past agree that the poker run is a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon.
