A Pennsylvania snowbird was arrested on a drunk driving charge thanks to an assist from Community Watch.
A Community Watch driver contacted the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office to report that he was following a silver Cadillac traveling at five miles per hour at 1:31 a.m. Saturday on Buena Vista Boulevard near the entrance to the Village of Winifred. The driver said the Cadillac had fluctuated from speeds of five miles per hour to 40 mph, according to an arrest report. When a deputy arrived, the Cadillac had come to a complete stop on the roadway.
The driver, 75-year-old Robert Charles Revelli, of Philadelphia, was identified by his Pennsylvania driver’s license. The deputy advised Revelli of the reason for the traffic stop, but Revelli repeatedly responded, “I don’t know what you’re talking about sir.”
Revelli’s speech was slurred and his eyes were bloodshot. EMS arrived on the scene and the crew checked out Revelli, who did not appear to be suffering from a medical episode.
Revelli lost his balance three times during field sobriety exercises and at one point said he was unsure he was capable of completing the exercises “due to his age.” He provided breath samples that registered .125 and .128 blood alcohol content.
He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center and released after posting $1,000 bond.
He also was issued a warning for stopping on the roadway.
