A Leesburg man called a Marion County sheriff’s deputy for help Wednesday after discovering that his trailer loaded with tools was missing from a Summerfield home located just outside The Villages.
The 40-year-old man told the sheriff’s deputy that a friend had given him permission to park his trailer at a home located in the 7800 block of SE Hwy. 42, across from Marion County Fire Rescue Station 10. He said he had been working in Orlando on Tuesday and had received a call from another friend who said he had seen an unknown person in the yard where the trailer was parked, a sheriff’s office report states.
The man said when he arrived at the Summerfield house on Wednesday morning, the trailer containing several tools was missing. He said the “black-rusty” single-axle Bray trailer, which had no jack, was valued at $2,000. He said the trailer, which was “bending at the tongue due to excessive weight,” contained five ladders valued at $1,100, power tools worth about $1,000 and seven shovels valued at $175, the report says.
