Louis H. Pelow (November 9, 1924 – March 13, 2019) Louie was born in Oswego New York, the only child of Mary Eliza White and Louis Amos Pelow .
A child of the depression he was a senior at Hinsdale (New York) High School when the boys were told they would receive their diplomas if they enlisted. He enlisted and eventually went to jump school in England and served with the 101st Airborne division and fought at Bastogne in December 1944 during the Battle of the Bulge. After the war he graduated from St. Bonaventure University and while there married Marian Gallets from Allegheny, New York. (She predeceased him in 2011). Together they had five children (Louis, died in infancy) the surviving children: Sharon (Leo) Keenan of Nellysford , Va ; Cary (Merry) Pelow of West Seneca NY; Beverly Kremer of Leesburg Fl, and David (Pam) Pelow of Bemus Point, NY.
Louie had a 20 year career as an ATF agent and then 10 years working for the state of New York as an investigator for Medicare and Medicaid fraud. After retirement they moved to Florida and then to The Villages. There he continued daily walks and played 9 hole golf. He along with his wife enjoyed their 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren and especially loved their summers at Bemus Point, NY and Outer Banks family reunions.
His lifelong friends from West Seneca and those neighbors and dear friends from The Villages helped him enjoy his later years very much and to those friends we are especially grateful.
A celebration of life will take place on May 8th at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church at 8:30AM with internment at the Florida National Cemetery following at 10:30AM. A lunch to celebrate his life will follow.
