Villager struck in accident at Leesburg hospital that claims life of fellow employee

A Villager was struck by an automobile Friday night while attending to a fellow employee at Leesburg Regional Medical Center who also had been struck by a car.

LRMC employee June Griffin, 64, of the Village of Del Mar, was struck by a 2000 Saturn driven by 64-year-old Norma McDuffie of Leesburg at Pine Street and Knott Street, according to the Leesburg Police Department.

Griffin had stopped to lend assistance after a car, driven by 77-year-old Leola Jordan, struck LRMC employee Jo Ann Taylor of Leesburg who was walking to her car in the parking lot at the end of her shift. Several people were attending to her when the second collision occurred.

Taylor, 60, was pronounced dead at the scene. Griffin was treated at the hospital and has been released.
