A younger Villages couple living in a home owned by a trust fund was arrested Sunday after they were found passed out in a vehicle in the parking of the Summerfield Wal-Mart.
When Marion County sheriff’s deputies arrived at the store, located at 17961 U.S. Hwy. 27/441, they found 38-year-old Richard Joseph Dumas sitting in the driver’s seat of a white two-door Chrysler with the keys in the ignition and 36-year-old Angie Lee Sousa in the passenger seat. The vehicle was backed into a spot in the south end of the parking lot and both Dumas and Sousa, who had been trespassed from the Summerfield Wal-Mart in the past, were passed out, a sheriff’s office report states.
During a search of the vehicle, deputies found a small sunglasses case in the center console that contained syringes with residue that field tested positive for heroin and Fentanyl, a cut soda can with residue that also tested positive for both drugs and a clear plastic baggie containing 14 round pills that were determined to be Clonazepam, the report says.
Both Dumas and Sousa were taken into custody and transported to the Marion County Jail. Dumas was charged with trespassing, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription (heroin), selling a Schedule III synthetic narcotic (Clonazepam) and possession of drug equipment. He was being held on $6,000 bond and is due to appear in a Marion County courtroom on April 23 at 9 a.m. to answer to the charges.
Sousa was charged with trespassing and was released Tuesday morning on $500 bond. She’s due in court May 17 at 9 a.m.
Dumas is no stranger to the legal system, having been housed in the Marion County Jail four times since January 2017 and four other times in the Sumter County Detention Center in 2017-18. In Marion County, he’s been arrested for petit theft (third or subsequent offense) and has been picked up on outstanding Sumter County warrants for petit theft, driving with a suspended or revoked license and resisting a merchant.
In Sumter County, Dumas has been jailed on charges of violating his probation, an out-of-county warrant, failure to appear in court, petit theft and larceny/petit theft.
Dumas and Sousa live at 17305 SE 73rd Park Glen Ct. in the Village of Calumet Grove. The three-bedroom Designer home, which was built in 2003, is owned by a trust with a mailing address in Whitmore Lake, Mich. In The Villages, at least 80 percent of the homes must be occupied by at least one person over the age of 55.
