A Villages couple has won permission to remove two Live Oak trees from their yard.
Anthony and Jean Capoano live at 1015 Nell Way in the Village of Orange Blossom Gardens and sought permission from the Architectural Review Committee to remove the problematic trees.
One of the trees is very near the couple’s driveway and they are fearful of roots growing under the driveway and causing damage. The other tree is growing into their larger palm tree, according to the application the couple filed with the ARC.
The arborist who inspected the trees had no objection to the removal of one of the trees, as it has a caliper of less than 4 inches.
But he believed the other tree should be spared.
“This is a young tree and it’s not been planted very long in this spot. It is beginning to get codominant trunks. Now is the time to get an arborist to prune the tree to clean it up and to help prevent the codominant trunks. Otherwise, there is nothing wrong with the tree,” certified arborist David Van Vleet Jr. wrote in a report presented to the ARC.
The ARC granted the couple’s request to remove the trees.
