Two teenage girls with a large amount of marijuana and a gun were arrested after a high-speed chase in Wildwood.
A member of the Florida Highway Patrol on Saturday spotted a white Pontiac Grand Am without a license plate traveling near Jackson Street. The vehicle was traveling in a reckless manner, with the driver running stop signs and improperly passing other vehicles in a residential area. The Pontiac nearly struck a Wildwood Police Department patrol car at U.S. 301 and County Road 44A. That officer joined the pursuit, which reached the speed of 100 miles per hour in a 35 mph zone.
The driver, 17-year-old Yazmine Samone Dillion, of Leesburg, and a passenger, 18-year-old Natajah Imari Shantrice Jackson, of Eustis, were taken into custody and handcuffed.
A total of 78 grams of marijuana, scales and a .40-caliber Smith & Wesson firearm were found in their vehicle.
