
A woman with more than $1,000 in stolen merchandise was arrested Saturday at Belk in The Villages.
Cynthia Thompson, 27, of Ocala, entered the store at La Plaza Grande carrying a bag that appeared to be empty, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. She had selected items and put them in a shopping cart before entering a fitting room. When Thompson left the fitting room, her bag appeared to be “bulging and full.” She left the store and was apprehended by Lady Lake police.
The merchandise in her bag was valued at $1,338.
Thompson is on felony probation through 2022 on a charge of robbery in Marion County.
She was taken into custody and booked at the Lake County Jail.
