Restaurant at Stonecrest Golf Club shut down by health inspector

The Stonecrest Golf Club was shut down over the weekend after a health inspector found high-priority violations at the restaurant.

The inspector on Friday paid a visit to the restaurant in the Stonecrest development, which includes more than 2,000 homes in Summerfield. The inspector found numerous roaches in the kitchen including on the cook line, near a dishwashing machine and around a freezer, according to a report on file with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation. The restaurant’s manager killed the roaches and moved the freezer out of the building, the report said. It was also noted that a reach-in cooler was “not maintained in good repair” and the inspector warned against using it for the storage of “potentially hazardous” food.

When the inspector returned Monday, two dead roaches were found inside a soap dispenser at the dishwashing machine. Another roach was found at the cook line and a roach was found on a wall near the office area. Once again, the manager killed the roaches. The inspector deemed the restaurant unsafe to re-open.

However, the restaurant was allowed to re-open later Monday after another followup inspection.
