I can’t understand why so many folks tell me that I should worry about how climate change will affect my grandchildren. Who’s worried? I’m counting on it. I’m instead worried about those who still think we are changing the climate. Mother Nature is at the helm — not us.
In addition to the climate, she single-handedly controls the tidal cycles and even the Ice Age cycles. So, enjoy nature’s climate changes. Instead of pulling your hair out, learn to adapt. Adapting also includes living with Inter-Glacial warming periods — like the one we are now enjoying. Adapting to natural events is key to a long, prosperous life. It’s no different than those who adapt their lives around the intertidal coastal zones. When the tides come in — you get out of the way. When the oceans rise, you move to higher ground.
Since we all know the oceans are steadily rising, one needs to think twice about building homes on the coasts. That’s why I moved to The Villages — it’s high and dry. In the meantime, since we don’t know how much longer this interglacial warming period will last, the sea levels will continue to rise as it has done many times before.Someday, the warming will stop and the next Ice Age will begin. It could be 1,000 years from now or even next year — we just don’t know. Remember what Mark Twain said, “If you don’t like the weather in New England now, just wait a few minutes.”
John Shewchuk says, “If you don’t like today’s climate, just wait a few years.” The funny part is … once the Ice Age returns, the glaciers will invade the continents, the sea levels will again fall, the shorelines will recede, and folks will then complain that they have to drive to far to get to the beach. I’m sure Al Gore will no doubt write another fictional book about how we’re making too much ice, and once again dupe unsuspecting buyers into many more millions for his climate hoax bank account — and get yet another Nobel-for-Dummies Prize. And our brain-washed kids, who are now suffering from the heat-hoax, will suffer from a cold-con.
But back to today’s climate … it’s funny how folks are losing their minds just because oceans are rising a few inches per century. What the climate alarmists fail to tell you is that the oceans need to rise another 20 FEET just to reach the levels seen during the last interglacial warming period. It’s nature in action — just like volcanism. Get used to it. Additionally, since the previous interglacial warming periods attained different maximum temperatures, we have absolutely no idea what Mother Nature intends for us this warming cycle. But don’t worry, we all chose well by moving to The Villages. The town square at Lake Sumter is a lofty 60 feet above current sea levels.
So there you have it. The only inconvenience about global warming is some sea level rise. It’s just Mother Nature periodically reclaiming her territory. It’s spring cleaning on a global scale. It’ no different than a volcano reclaiming its hillsides with a fresh coat of lava. But with the oceans, you have many years to move out of the way versus only minutes with lava flows. Otherwise, just like springtime, global warming is a greatly anticipated and treasured world event. The earth is getting greener, the deserts are starting to bloom, the polar bears are seeing a population explosion, and human civilizations always thrive in warmer climates — which is why I moved here. So enjoy Mother Nature’s warmth as she nurtures a healthier world population — for plants and people. My grandkids are counting on it.
