Villages doctor subpoenaed in case in which Palmer Golf Academy employee arrested

A Villages doctor has been subpoenaed to testify in a case in which he was allegedly threatened with a gun by a Palmer Golf Academy employee.

Dr. Nelson Kraucak

Dr. Nelson Kraucak was served last week with a subpoena in a case in which 55-year-old Shawn Michael Logan, of The Villages, has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Logan remains free on $2,000 bond following his arrest April 2 by Sumter County sheriff’s deputies.

When Kraucak arrived at work shortly before 8 a.m. that morning at Healthcare Partners Medical Office on U.S. Hwy. 27/441, Logan’s silver car was backed into a parking space at the practice, located across from The Villages Regional Hospital.

Logan started to yell at Kraucak and threatened to “put a bullet” in the doctor’s head “if he ever again stated that he had inappropriate relations with a massage therapist that was employed at his office,” according to the arrest report.

The doctor realized that Logan was the same person who had been accused of having sexual relations with the massage therapist, who was fired in February.

Kraucak told deputies that Logan “got increasingly loud and upset with him,” the report said. Logan reportedly told the doctor he was in poor health and “does not care” what happens to him. Logan allegedly pulled up his shirt and exposed a gun tucked in his waistband. Logan got in his car and left. Video surveillance confirmed Kraucak’s account of the four-minute confrontation.

Deputies tracked down Logan at Palmer Golf Academy. He admitted going to the doctor’s office and engaging in a “verbal confrontation.”

Logan said after leaving the doctor’s office he stopped by Dunkin Donuts on County Road 466 to pick up coffee and then went straight to work.

Logan’s boss, Chris Plummer, said Logan arrived for work at 8:38 a.m. Logan was caught on surveillance at 8:09 a.m. traveling through the gate at the Village of Belle Air where he lives on Roanoke Street. Deputies concluded Logan went by his home to drop off the weapon before heading to work.

An application on file with the Sumter County Clerk of Court’s office, indicates that Logan will be relying on the public defender’s office for representation. The Methuen, Mass. native lists as an asset his 2009 Mercedes.
