Area residents encouraged to honor Old Glory at Veterans Memorial Park

Veterans Memorial Park of The Villages is preparing to honor Old Glory.

The park will hold its annual Flag Day Ceremony on Friday, June 14 at 10 a.m. VMP President Richard Simpson will welcome area residents to the ceremony. Leo Brown will be the singer and Sounds of Scotland will provide music. And the VMP Honor Guard will perform a flag folding ceremony.

The featured speaker will be Karen Carbonneau, a regent with the Puc Puggy Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution. Her speech is titled “Our Flag, from it’s beginning to today.”

Veterans Memorial Park is located in Spanish Springs facing Lake Mira Mar, between Paige Place and the golf cart bridge over U.S. Hwy. 27/441. Those attending are encouraged to bring chairs and should remember that the park is pet free.
