A 21-year-old Villager called the Marion County Sheriff’s Office for help Monday after realizing he’d purchased a stolen firearm from a Craigslist seller.
The Village of Springdale resident told a sheriff’s deputy that he bought the handgun, along with a black case, a 15-round magazine and a black holster, from a man he met with at a Wal-Mart in Homosassa. He said after returning home with the Glock 19, he looked up the serial number online and was alerted that the 9mm pistol was stolen, a sheriff’s office report states.
The deputy also ran the handgun’s serial number and confirmed that it was stolen and connected to a case the Ocala Police Department was working. The deputy took the firearm and placed it into evidence, then notified Ocala Police of the recovery.
