Marion deputy responds to Villages home after accusations against live-in caretaker

A Marion County sheriff’s deputy was called to a home in The Villages on Sunday after the Department of Children and Families received an anonymous tip with accusations against an elderly couple’s live-in caretaker.

The deputy stood by as the investigator spoke with the 87-year-old Village of Piedmont residents, whose home is in the 8000 block of Winterthur Loop. He then interviewed the 58-year-old caretaker and reported to the deputy that he “had no concerns” about her ability to care for the couple and would be closing his agency’s case immediately, the report says.

The deputy said he also saw no concerns at the residence and then provided the DCF investigator with a sheriff’s office case number and his contact information, the report says.
