A man was arrested after calling 911 to report a law enforcement officer who had pulled him over.
Brian Ramirez, 35, pulled into the driveway of his home at 2047 Pine Ridge Drive in Fruitland Park on June 17 with a Lake County Sheriff’s Office squad car with its emergency lights activated in pursuit of Ramirez’s vehicle.
Ramirez complained that the deputy was on “private property” and wanted him to leave. The deputy asked Ramirez if he had seen the lights of the squad car and why he didn’t pull over before reaching his driveway.
Ramirez attempted to call 911 to report the deputy’s presence at his home. The deputy ordered Ramirez not to dial 911, but he did so anyway.
“Numerous other units then responded,” the deputy wrote in the arrest report.
Ramirez revealed that he was armed with a weapon and a Fruitland Park police officer who arrived on the scene took the gun from him.
Ramirez was arrested on charges of misuse of 911 and resisting arrest. He was booked at the Lake County Jail and released after posting $2,000 bond.
