Lynn Carlton Wheeler, Always a Southern Gentleman, passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2019.

Lynn was born in Jarratt, VA a small town boy who came to New York City, met a big city girl and love of his life, Fran. They were happily married for 45 years. Together they raised a wonderful son, Kris, who married a great woman, Gloria. Kris and Gloria blessed the lives of Lynn and Fran with two sweet granddaughters, Paeton and Raegan. Lynn took pride in his family and set a high standard for all to follow in the ways to be a son, husband, father, and friend.

Lynn was a Vietnam War veteran and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal. After the military he became a Special Agent with the Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs which was the forerunner to the Drug Enforcement Administration. He proudly served DEA for 33 years in New York City, El Paso, Texas, and Miami, Florida.

He will be greatly missed by all his family, and his extended families from both 94th Terrace in Miami, and The Villages.

Lynn has one brother, Layton and was preceded in death by his parents Henry (Bootie) and Miss Elsie. Miss Elsie and Bootie did a terrific job of raising the love of Fran’s life and she will miss him the most!

A visitation will be held on Friday, June 28, 2019 from 10-11 am, located at Hiers-Baxley Funeral and Cremation Life Event Center, 3975 Wedgewood Lane, The Villages, FL 32162. Burial will follow at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL at 12:30 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Cornerstone Hospice or to a charity of your choice.
