One dead, two wounded by gunfire during Summerfield home invasion

One man was killed and two others – including the homeowner – were wounded by gunfire Wednesday night during a home invasion in Summerfield.

One man was killed and two others – including the homeowner – were wounded by gunfire during a home invasion in the 14900 block of SE 32nd Court Rd. on Wednesday night.

Marion County sheriff’s deputies and other emergency personnel scrambled to the residence in the 14900 block of SE 32nd Court Rd. shortly before 8:30 p.m. after receiving calls about a home invasion with gunshots fired.

When deputies arrived, they found one man dead and one male suspect and the homeowner suffering from gunshot wounds. Deputies also were able to locate two more suspects who were being detained Wednesday night, a sheriff’s office report states.

Witnesses in the area reported seeing multiple law enforcement and fire department units headed to the home, along with two helicopters. One, presumed to be a medical helicopter, landed and took off a short time later, the while the other from the sheriff’s office continued to circle the area over the residence where the incident took place.

Major Crimes detectives from the sheriff’s office were continuing to investigate the home invasion late Wednesday night, the report says.
