John Marshall

John Marshall, 81, of St. Augustine, formerly of The Villages, passed away July 12, 2019 in Paramus, New Jersey. John was born on June 18, 1938 in New York, New York to Frank R. and Mary Elizabeth (Standard) Marshall. He was the husband of the late Margaret Marshall (nee) Broughton.

John was of the Presbyterian faith. He proudly served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War. John was Chief of Emergency Medical Services of New York City for 32 years until his retirement in 1993. John and Margaret moved to The Villages in 1999 then he moved to St. Augustine in 2018. John was a member of the American Legion, he loved to play cards, golf, fishing, go bowling and enjoyed growing vegetables in his garden. John was devoted to “his girls” and their families. He loved spending time with family and friends.

John is survived by his four daughters; Hayley Schneider and husband Jim of Paramus, New Jersey, Heidi Geiger and husband Tim of Dallas, Texas, Jane Marshall of St. Augustine, Florida and Justyn Hudgins of Florida. Eleven grandchildren: Lauren, Timothy, Kelsey, Kyle, Matthew, Brian, J.J., Katrina, Olivia, Xavier, and Isaac and two great-grandsons: Liam and Henry. He is also survived by his two brothers Frank and Robert Marshall, and sister Marilyn MacVicar.

John will be buried in the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida next to his wife on Wednesday, July 17 at 2:00. There will be a public graveside service with full military honors at that time.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital.
