A man and and a woman were arrested at a villa following a drink-throwing altercation after they left a bar at Brownwood Paddock Square.

The couple, 48-year-old Susan Kendra Walker and 33-year-old Michael Patrick Duffy, had been drinking Thursday night at a Brownwood bar when they got into a car to return to their home in the Southern Star Villas.

Walker admitted she threw a drink at Duffy, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. The Tennessee native also struck Duffy in the upper lip leaving him with a laceration. She claimed it was in self-defense.

The villa in which the altercation had occurred has a “For Rent” sign in the window.

She packed up her belongings, put them in a car and waited outside the villa, which is owned by Duffy’s parents who live in the Village of Sabal Chase. After “an extended period” she re-entered the villa prompting Duffy, who stands in excess of six feet tall and weighs 240 pounds, to grab Walker by the hair and drag her out of the house, the report said.

Walker and Duffy, who have been a couple for two years, were arrested on charges of battery. They were both booked at the Sumter County Detention Center where they were initially held without bond.
