A man with a suspended driver’s license was arrested after running a stop sign while behind the wheel of a golf cart.

Ovidiu Bumbu, 40, had been driving the golf cart at about 7:30 p.m. Friday when he failed to stop at a stop sign on West Berckman Street just west of North Dixie Avenue in Fruitland Park, according to an arrest report from the Fruitland Park Police Department. A check revealed multiple suspensions of Bumbu’s driver’s license.

He was booked at the Lake County Jail on $5,000 bond.

Bumbu, who was born in Romania, has had previous arrests for driving on a suspended license. He also was arrested last year in the theft of Jockey underwear from Kohl’s in Lady Lake.
