A 23-year-old man with drugs and a loaded Glock 9mm firearm was jailed after a high-speed chase on Interstate 75 in Sumter County.
Quincey Eugene Green, 23, of Ocala, was driving a black Dodge at 5:41 a.m. Sunday when he left the Pilot travel center on State Road 44 in Wildwood, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. His vehicle pulled onto I-75 and began traveling at a speed of 100 miles per hour while a deputy followed in pursuit
During a traffic stop, the deputy noted “the pungent odor of burnt marijuana” coming from Green’s vehicle. Green and two women in the vehicle were asked to get out so that a search of the interior could be conducted.
A Glock model 19 9mm handgun with a fully loaded magazine and live round in the chamber was found under the driver’s seat. Next to it was a high-capacity magazine with 24 live rounds of ammunition. In the console, a clear plastic bag containing 14 grams of pills was discovered.
A check revealed Green is on probation in Marion County due to a burglary conviction.
Green was taken into custody and booked without bond at the Sumter County Detention Center.
