Paul Edgar Lake

Paul Edgar Lake died peacefully at home on July 23, 2019 in The Villages, Florida at the age of 81. He was formerly from Uniontown and East Stroudsburg, PA. Paul was born on September 17, 1937 in Centerville, PA to Earl Lake & Luella (Whitlock) Lake. He was the husband of Nancy Aston Lake. They recently celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary.

Paul graduated from South Union High School in 1955. He went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Navy, Seabees Division. Paul began his career as an Electrician for Owen’s Corning Fiberglass. After college, he worked as an Electrical Engineer for Westinghouse. He and Nancy went on to own and operate a resort (Humble Rest Lodge) in the Poconos in PA. Paul finished out his career as an electrical Service Engineer for Reliance Electric / Rockwell Corp. After retirement, he and Nancy moved to The Villages, FL.

Paul had especially fond memories of his childhood playing along the riverbanks of Alicia, PA as well as the time he spent at Hiller Elementary where he developed many life-long friendships. Paul was devoted to Nancy, his daughters and their families. His faith was very important to him. Paul was an active member of New Covenant United Methodist Church. He was an outdoorsman who loved to hunt and enjoyed building things including his own log home in PA. Paul was a man of many talents. There was not a problem he could not solve. When he was younger, Paul had been a member of a scuba-diving club in NJ. He enjoyed golf, travel and spending time with family and friends.

Paul is survived by his wife, Nancy and their daughters Jill (Kevin) Miller and Joan (Wendy Hechler) Lake; grandchildren: Erica (Joseph) Dorsch, Elise (John) Coakley and Erin (Jeremy) Jones; great-grandchildren: Abigail, Andrew and Joseph Dorsch, Jordan Paul and Jenna Coakley, and Haley Jones; brother: Daniel (Joyce) Lake, nephew: Dennis Lake, brother-in-law: Tom Shaneyfelt and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, James.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 30, 2019 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM with funeral service immediately following, at Donald R. Crawford Funeral Home, 1189 National Pike, Hopwood, PA 15445.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Paul’s memory can be made to New Covenant United Methodist Church, 3470 Woodridge Dr, The Villages, FL 32162 – designate in memo “Helping Hands”.
