A Villages of Parkwood woman was arrested at Southern Trace Plaza in The Villages after attacking a law enforcement officer who was attempting to help her.
Jessica Rae White, 37, was “crying uncontrollably” and was having trouble standing when she was approached at 2:36 p.m. Thursday by a Sumter County sheriff’s deputy outside Bealls Outlet. White began rolling on the ground and “screaming unintelligible words,” according to the arrest report. She got up and struck the deputy and began wandering toward traffic.
The deputy attempted to direct White away from the traffic, but she yanked at the deputy’s hand and struck him several times on the arm. She also attempted to strike him in the face.
EMS personnel arrived on the scene and transported White to The Villages Regional Hospital. After she was released from the hospital, she was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center on charges of battery on a law enforcement office and resisting arrest. Bond was set at $10,000.
