A Wildwood man who had been free on bond after allegedly raping a 19-year-old girl has landed back behind bars

Perry Vincent Martin Jr., 33, was arrested Saturday night after he was spotted driving a vehicle on U.S. 301. During a traffic stop, Martin admitted he had only a permit allowing him to drive to and from work. His license has been suspended for refusal to submit to a breath/urine/blood test in Orange County, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

He was taken into custody and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center on $300 bond.

Martin had been free on $50,000 bond following his April 10 arrest on a charge of sexual battery.

The teenager he allegedly attacked was interviewed by Wildwood police at Leesburg Regional Medical Center. She said she had met Martin on the dating website, “Tagged.” She agreed to allow him to pick her up and take her to his house for a BBQ dinner. Once they reached his residence, Martin stood in his bedroom and offered the teen something to drink. He grabbed her by the throat and repeatedly told her in profane language that he wanted to have sex with her, according to the arrest report. He forcibly pulled down her pants and had unprotected sex with the teen, all the while squeezing her throat. After he was finished, she was able to break away. She began banging on doors in the neighborhood, pleading for help.

Martin is facing a felony charge of sexual battery. A pre-trial hearing in that case is set for Aug. 20 in Sumter County Court.
