
Ruby Arvetta “Miki” Knowles, 90, of The Villages, FL died Thursday, August 1, 2019 at Buffalo Crossing Skilled Nursing and under the care of Cornerstone Hospice.
She was born on July 12, 1929 Hickory Hills, Wayne County, Illinois the daughter of Lawrence Sylvester and Merle Gertrude (Warren) McCord. She married Wayne Knowles on September 17, 1947 in Rock Falls. He died in 1978. Miki worked in retail and retired from Lee Wayne Company in Sterling. She was raised in Rock Falls and lived in Illinois until she moved to Bradenton, FL in 1998. She was a member of the Rock Falls Elk Lodge and she belonged to the Ladies of the Moose. She was a great artist and gave away most of her art to family and friends.
Surviving are her daughter, Constance (Charles) Quick, grandchildren; Patrick Quick, Michael Quick, Bryan Geer (Leslie-Ann), Brandon Geer, Brett Geer, Joshua Knowles, Jason (April) Knowles, Ashley (Patrick) Murphy and 13 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister, Zelda J. King; daughter Karen (John) Geer; and sons David Knowles and John Knowles.
On August 18, 2019 there will be an open house in her memory from 12-4 at Jim and Chris King’s home, 81 Harvest Dr., Sterling, IL.
