A man driving a minivan in excess of 100 miles per hour was arrested on a drunk driving charge at Sam’s Club in Lady Lake.
Steven Slayton-Munday, 32, of Fruitland Park, had been driving a gold minivan shortly after 1 a.m. Friday at 103 miles per hour in a 45 mph zone on U.S. Hwy. 27/441 when he was pulled over in the Sam’s Club parking lot, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. Slayton-Munday exited the vehicle upon an officer’s request, sat on the curb and began “swaying in a back and forth motion.” He told police he was on his way to Applebee’s to get something to eat.
It appeared Slayton-Munday had been drinking and he agreed to participate in field sobriety exercises. He struggled through the exercises. He refused to provide a breath sample and refused to sign a citation.
The Michigan native was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence and ticketed for speeding. He was booked at the Lake County Jail on $1,500 bond.
