The parent company of The Villages Regional Hospital has been recognized for advocating healthy lifestyles in the workplace and beyond.
Central Florida Health, which also oversees Leesburg Regional Medical Center, was one of 25 businesses – and among the top four – recognized by the Orlando Business Journal in its 2019 Central Florida Healthiest Employers List.
The annual award program honors companies with policies and initiatives that promote health and well-being for employees. The winning businesses, along with their ranking and Healthiest Employers scores, were featured in the August 9 edition of the publication. Counties included in the awards program were Lake, Brevard, Orange, Osceola, Seminole and Volusia.
“We are honored to be recognized as one of the top four winners of the ‘Healthiest Employer 2019’ award,” said Juli Romero-Gomez, a registered nurse who serves as the healthcare provider’s ACC Wellness Program coordinator. “As we continue to grow a culture of wellness for our team members, we are excited to see the real-life impact of healthy living and the positive direction it takes our communities.”
Central Florida Health offers multiple wellness programs, benefits and resources to ensure that employees find a positive work-life balance. Those include free diabetes management classes, an outdoor walking track, tobacco cessation courses, annual health screenings and reduced rates at the on-site fitness center in Leesburg, among others.
