The Day-Break Club of The Villages recently held a Hawaiian luau for its members.
The event, which was quite popular and well attended, featured Hawaiian-themed music with dancing and colorful leis for everyone in attendance. There were plenty of smiles and laughter throughout the event. And members wore everything from colorful flowered shirts to stylish hats to grass skirts similar to those worn by Hawaiian hula dancers.
The Day-Break Club provides a supervised environment where caregivers can drop off family members who have special needs for a few hours each week. Members of the club receiving these services are Day-Breakers. Day-Break volunteers provide supervision and are coordinated by the trained Day-Break Leadership Team.
Earlier this year, the club was honored by The Villages Homeowners Advocates with its 2018 Volunteer Organization of the Year. In May, the group held its fifth annual Senior Prom – a highly popular draw among its members. And throughout the year special events are planned, such as Crazy Hat Day, a Kentucky Derby party, a canine wedding and Memorial Day celebrations, to name a few.
