Wildwood commissioners Monday approved six development projects along Powell Road and its County Road 462 extension between State Road 44A and U.S. 301.
Projects include a housing subdivision, bank buildings, swimming pools, offices, a restaurant and a church expansion.
A site plan was approved for the 128-unit Triumph South first phase subdivision located several hundred feet south of CR 462 near County Road 127. Commissioners also approved a developer agreement for the project.
Mayor Ed Wolf, who voted against the project several months ago, again criticized the five-foot setbacks designed to make home prices more affordable.
He said there won’t be enough space for vehicles owned by a working couple and that a single access road to CR 462 will carry a lot of traffic.
“I don’t see that this is workforce housing,” he said.
Commissioners approved a site plan for Brownwood Professional Plaza that includes a 45,600-square-foot Citizens First Bank operations center and a 25,500-square-foot office building on an 18-acre triangular property north of SR 44A.
The property, which hosted an emergency services heliport until Villages homes were built nearby, originally was part of Wildwood’s Millennium Park but was separated from the park a decade ago by the reconfiguration of Powell Road. The bank bought the property from the city earlier this year for $3 million.
Zoning and a comprehensive plan amendment were granted for Dr. Hassanein Plaza, a mixed-use development that will include medical and professional offices, stores and restaurants on nearly five acres just south of the Sumter County Villages Annex building.
Two swimming pool buildings on about four acres may be the first structures on the Beaumont property at the northeast corner of Powell Road and County Road 466A across from Pinellas Plaza.
Commissioners approved a site plan for a 5,950-square-foot pool building with a pool, deck, recreation courts, parking and a driveway. The plan also includes a 580-square-foot pool building. More than 400 homes are planned on the property, with business property offered for sale along the roads.
A site plan and comprehensive plan amendment also was approved for a Stavros & Sons pizza restaurant planned on 1.2 acres on the north side of CR 462 at County Road 132. The restaurant chain started in Daytona Beach and now operates at more than a dozen locations, including Lake County.
A site plan for a 24,785-square-foot expansion of Village of Faith Baptist Church was endorsed by commissioners. The church is on about nine acres across the road from the proposed pizza restaurant.
