President Trump signed an executive order last Wednesday forgiving disabled veterans’ student loan debt. The order immediately forgave more than $750 million in student loans to 25,000 “totally and permanently disabled veterans” who had been eligible for forgiveness, but who’s loans hadn’t been discharged. Actions like this are a step in the right direction to stand by our military who have sacrificed so much protecting our freedoms and way of life. We owe our military a debt we can never repay.
Constituent Corner
A constituent contacted our office for urgent assistance when Medicare claimed she owed back premiums and, as a result, terminated her Part B coverage. The constituent stated she did not owe back premiums and had a copy of the check Social Security processed covering her premiums. Our office sent a congressional inquiry to Social Security to inform them of the issue and the time sensitive nature, as the constituent was without her Medicare coverage. We followed up several times to confirm the reinstatement of the constituent’s coverage was moving forward and learned that her Part B coverage had resumed.
Constituent services is a critical element of our congressional office. The federal government is a massive operation, and my office is available if you ever need assistance in navigating the bureaucracy or cutting through red tape. We are here to serve you.
