A driver arrested on a drunk driving charge at McDonald’s in Lady Lake tried to claim a medical episode she was suffering caused her erratic behavior.
Jacey Gibson, 21, of Weirsdale, had been driving a white Lincoln MKX SUV at 9:40 p.m. Sunday and attempted to pull into multiple parking spaces at the McDonald’s restaurant on U.S. Hwy. 27/441 in Lady Lake, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department.
When an officer approached Gibson she had “severely slurred speech” and seemed “disoriented.” The officer spotted an open container of White Claw hard seltzer in the driver’s side door.
Gibson told the officer she feared she was having a medical episode and Lake Fire and EMS personnel were summoned to the scene. EMS determined she was not having a medical emergency.
Gibson refused to provide a breath sample. She was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence and booked at the Lake County Jail. She was released after posting $1,000 bond.
